Certificate Course on Climate Change (C4)
State Knowledge Management Centre on Climate Change (SKMCCC) has been established within EPCO as the state nodal agency to manage issues related to climate change. One of the major activities of SKMCCC is to disseminate knowledge on climate change.
In this endeavour, SKMCCC has launched a dedicated, 4 week "Certificate Course on Climate Change (C4)". The objective of this course is to create climate leaders and develop a cadre of professionals on scientific, social, economic and policy aspects of climate change & sustainable development. The first league of course was launched during 5-28 March, 2018.
The participants came from diverse backgrounds including academicians, professionals from NGOs, government officials, research scholars and architects.
The course covered a range of issues on Climate Change, Environment and Sustainable Development. It discusses various challenges posed by climate change and environmental degradation and government responses to implement solutions for environmental conservation and sustainable development.
The participants gained an understanding of fundamentals of climate change, its impacts on various components of earth’s ecosystem - biotic and abiotic, along with mitigation approaches and adaptation strategies, technology development, outline of various negotiations at national and international level.
The pedagogy of the course comprised 10 days of dedicated classroom sessions, field visit, and self-study assignments followed by presentations. On successful completion of above, the participants were awarded certificates.
