Madhya Pradesh to use Green-bridge technology to rejuvinate Narmada
The Madhya Pradesh Government has decided to use the Green-bridge technology to cleanse the holy Narmada by planting 35 lakh saplings along a portion of the river. The government plans to take up the successful conservation model used for reviving the legendary Ayad river in Udaipur, Rajasthan, by an NGO, Jheel Sanrakshan Samiti (JSS).
The Green-bridge technology, relies entirely on natural phenomenon to clean up water bodies. Unlike conventional systems involving chemicals and machinery, which are power-dependent this technology depends upon natural bacteria, water purifying shrubs, plants, loose stones and sand, coconut coir and sunlight to clean the water.
