UN chief impressed by solar panels on canal project
UN chief Ban Ki Moon has heaped praised on the cutting edge green technology used in Gujarat’s second canal-top 10-MW solar power project. Probably a first of its kind project, solar panels have been arranged on top of the Vadodara branch of the Sardar Sarovar project canal. The UN chief said that this unique project reflects India's determination in pursuing sustainable development.
Mr Moon called on India to step up the efforts for clean energy by 2020. He stated that the canal project is a prime example to show how one project can be beneficial to multiple sectors.
